About Me

Greetings! My name is Teresa Yousaf. While I hail from a small village in Punjab, Pakistan, I have called England my home for the past 23 years.

Background and Passion for Cooking: In rural Punjab, Pakistan, it is customary for girls to learn cooking skills prior to marriage. Typically, a girl's mother imparts this knowledge, but sadly, my mother passed away when I was quite young. Consequently, my father and older brothers assumed the responsibility of teaching me.

At the age of 8, I began my culinary journey, finding immense joy in the art of cooking. It dawned on me that this passion could bring me lifelong happiness. As a child, one of the most fulfilling experiences was witnessing the enjoyment on people's faces as they appreciated  my culinary creations.

Deviation from Farming and Dedication to Cooking: While my siblings worked on my father's farm, as is customary for farming families, I discovered that farm work did not resonate with me. Instead, I took it upon myself to prepare hearty, traditional meals for my family after their hard day on the fields.

Embracing Simplicity and Freshness: Growing up in rural Pakistan, access to extravagant spices was limited. I relied on the fundamental spices and fresh ingredients harvested from my father's farm. Even to this day, I remain committed to using basic yet fresh ingredients in my cooking, resulting in flavourful and authentic dishes.

Sharing the Love for Punjabi Cuisine: Preparing traditional Punjabi cuisine has always brought me immense delight, whether it is for my loved ones or close friends. It is this passion that propelled me to open Thali Punjabi, my own restaurant, where I aspire to extend this culinary experience to the entire community.

The Essence of My Cuisine: In my restaurant, you can expect simple, delicious, healthy, and authentic dishes. I eagerly anticipate the opportunity to welcome you soon, as we embark on a delightful culinary journey together!
